About coconest
coconest gives homeowners a straight answer to one hard question: what does this project actually cost where I live?
Why we built it
coconest started with a simple frustration. When you're planning a roof, an HVAC system, windows, solar, siding, or a bathroom, the honest answer to “what should this cost?” is buried under thin articles and lead-generation forms. We wanted clear, local numbers you can trust before you ever pick up the phone.
How we model the numbers
Every dashboard covers one project in one place. We start from national, per-unit installed pricing by material, then adjust for a local cost index, project size, and the options you choose. We calibrate the underlying inputs to public sources, electricity rates from the EIA, solar production from NREL, climate and degree days from NOAA, and resale recovery from industry cost-vs-value research.
The result is an honest planning range, not a quote. Actual pricing always depends on your home and your contractor, so we show our method and label every estimate.
What we believe
- Transparent. We show how every number is built and where the data comes from.
- Free. The dashboards are free to use, with no account or sign-up.
- Private. We never sell your data, and we keep collection to a minimum. See our Privacy Policy.
